Women On Women, by Deborah Turbeville
Our new collection of essential reads on the arts and living.
Women On Women by Deborah Turbeville c. 1978.
One of our favorite photography books (and probably one of the most underrated...) highlighting the works of Female photographers of the late 1970s such as Alice Springs (working name of June Newton, Helmut's wife), Marcia Resnick, Sarah Moon, Linda Benedict-Jones, and Irina Ionesco.
Through the medium we see female gaze meeting female gaze through the use of allowing models to tell their own life's story or a storyline.
Each photographer adds a personal touch at beginning of each section by sharing a letter, story, or memento that captures the essence of what began their artistic journey of what female consciousness represents via the process of photography.
